**Reminder only 24 hours left**
Tomorrow the 14th of February is the closing date for communities to apply for the playground grant. Community groups interested in a new playground must fill out the expression of interest form to receive grant aid for the development of community projects and outdoor gyms. County Wexford has taken the lead with a super initiative in their five-year plan. The strategic plan will be in place from 2017 to 2022, to develop playgrounds in towns around the county of Wexford. They are going to develop up to thirteen playgrounds. Communities who wish to develop children’s playgrounds can be awarded grants up to twenty five thousand euro. You can read all about the leader funding program here.
A new playground or an upgrade is worth considering for your community, because it provides great benefits to children and adults. It’s also a great amenity for tourists to the area and can encourage families into your town or village. A playground provides families with all the ingredients for a fun day out and it’s easy on the pocket also. The playground should be open and inclusive- for toddlers, children, teenagers and even the oldies can join in. For a specification to suit your town or village, please call Bernie on 059-9132844 and we can help you design a spec that’s right for you.
Through research in child studies we know that play is an essential element of a child’s psychological and emotional development, it has been well established by now. Play encourages social interaction between children and learning occurs through play. We also know that it allows a child to learn about problem-solving in a creative and imaginative way. Therefore, playgrounds are actually an essential part of the community and should be provided in every town and village. Playgrounds allow kids to play, increase their interpersonal skills whilst stay fit and healthy. It also tires them out which leads to a peaceful sleep at night. There’s nothing like swinging from the monkey bars all day!
An example of the effect a playground can bring to an area can be seen in the recently developed playgrounds in Cratloe Woods in Co. Clare, ‘The Giants garden’ in Merrion Square, Dublin and Mungret inclusion park, Limerick. They have successfully succeeded in creating an inclusive child-friendly community. The playground has become an attractive facility in the communities which locals and tourists can now enjoy. Your community can also create a fantastic playground with the Leader playground grant.
Many towns in rural Ireland are in dire need of a playground, or some need an upgrade with more inclusive play equipment. STT swings provide Irish made manufacturing swings and climbing frames since 1999 and without a doubt, we can say with confidence that we provide the best durable play structures. We use heavy framing using a combination of Scandinavian red wood, Douglas Fir and Scandinavian pine for maximum strength and durability. We have lots of fun equipment beyond an average outdoor play area. We also have a wide range of products for the perfect community playground. These include lots of climbing frames, slides, zip wire structures and safety surfaces.
